Our impact The Difference We Make Macmillan Case Study 2019 The client and their partner used our service when the partner was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Sadly, the prognosis became terminal at the beginning of the year. The client now cares for the partner at home, so their income dropped very suddenly. In order to ensure that the couple could cover the cost of their rent, bills and everyday living costs it was important to get benefits in place as soon as possible. We helped the client make applications for Universal Credit and Carer’s Allowance, but it was also necessary to apply for grants to cover costs during the interim period. Without those grants the couple would not have been able to pay their rent or bills, which would have put them at risk of falling into debt. You can find Macmillan Cancer Support here.
