Citizens Advice Isle of Wight has been delivering the Energy Best Deal Extra (EBDX) project since 2012, tailoring individual advice to clients on their energy bills.

The 2019 Citizen Advice’s national EBDX scheme ran from 1 September 2018 to 31 March 2019. During this time Citizens Advice Isle of Wight helped residents who were deemed as most vulnerable, including pensioners, those on low-income and health related benefits, unemployed, and parents with dependent children. Over the course of the scheme, IWCA were able to help residents re-claim over £8,000 in incorrect meter readings and bills.

Citizens Advice Isle of Wight also took part in the Big Energy Saving Week, working alongside other energy-related charitable organisations to promote energy saving ideas. During this week, Citizens Advice visited playgroups and community service projects to spread awareness of the scheme.

Since the success of the scheme, IWCA have recruited a Specialist Volunteer Energy Adviser, who will help residents who are concerned about their energy bills.
