Seeking Chair Elect, Board of Trustees - Citizens Advice Isle of Wight – VOLUNTARY Role.

About us:

Citizens Advice Isle of Wight is a well-established local charity providing free, independent, confidential, and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. We believe everyone is entitled to the information that affects their lives.

We want our clients to have the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward - whoever they are, and whatever their problem.

We aim to:

  • provide the advice people need for the problems they face
  • provide maritime services to people in need
  • improve the policies and practices that affect people's lives.

We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination.

The Role

We are now looking for our next Chair to lead our Board of Trustees. This is a voluntary role, and you will have time to learn about trusteeship with us before taking over from our current Chair, Bob Bullivant who steps down in 2023. Training is provided, much of which can be completed online. You will have the support of experienced board members and a board secretary.

Having the leadership of a strong, effective, and inclusive Board is fundamental to our charity’s success and our ability to drive our strategy and plans forward. Through your ability to form meaningful and impactful relationships, you will become an important and effective ambassador for our charity.

You will have a strong empathy for, and understanding of, the challenges faced by the communities on the Isle of Wight – ideally through a personal association with them, and you will be intellectually curious and inspired by the work we do and our plans for the future.

You will be experienced in leading others and will use those skills to help us achieve ambitious and positive outcomes for our community.

Board meetings take place four times a year at our Newport office, Isle of Wight, or online as appropriate. The Chair will also need to attend other meetings in the Isle of Wight and elsewhere as part of the duties of the role.

Applications are encouraged from across the UK.
